Summary

This Oreo Cookie Box has been completely reverse engineered and redone but is compatible with the original. The original Oreo pattern had some symmetry issues that were corrected. Thread clearances were inconsistent between the ID and OD. I also added some radii to the inside for strength and appearance. The original source STL had some odd mesh issues and I also thought the resolution was too low.

I have provided two versions:

The 180mm diameter version matches the original. Thread clearance is 0.7mm and tip clearance is 0.6 mm. (This is about the same thread clearance as the original. However, the original tip clearance was only about 0.4mm) Other dimensions are mostly unchanged.

The 90mm diameter version is exactly half scaled except the thread clearances have been maintained. Thread clearance is 0.7mm and tip clearance is 0.6mm.

Some users have attempted to just scale down the original 180mm version which results in tight threads. Scaling the inner and outer fillings differently to compensate results in thread pitch differences which can cause other binding issues. This 90mm version has threads with adequate clearance for 3d printing.

STEP files are provided for further remixes. Have fun!
Inventor CAD files are available by request.

Have other ideas? Let me know. It shouldn’t be hard to come up with other sizes and variations on the theme.

How I Designed This

The original STL files were measured and scaled. Then all parts were completely redesigned using Autodesk Inventor.
